Experienced Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant – Hospitalist Schedule

Enjoy the best attributes of hospitalist scheduling, acuity, and teamwork with the ongoing continuity of care.  Essex Inpatient Physicians (EIP) is looking for an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team (32.5 hours per week) at a combined long-term acute care (LTAC) + inpatient rehab (IRF) hospital in Haverhill, MA.  The ideal candidate will live locally, possess “a roll up your sleeves” mentality, and can hit the ground running working as part of a care team providing the Internal Medicine specific clinical care for our 60-bed hospital.  Successful candidates will enjoy the challenge of a medically diverse, interesting, and complex patient panel and the rewards of treating and caring for critically ill patients.

About the position:

  • See 12-16 patients per day after an initial ramp up period
  • Treat a variety of comorbidities that vary greatly and can be mild to complex
  • Physician and experienced advanced practitioner support available on-site daily
  • Sub-specialist includes PM&R, Infectious Disease, Pulmonology, Nephrology, Psychiatry, Neurology, and Psychology
  • Rounding hours either 8a-6p, or 9a-5p, depending on shift covered, with very light call coverage 7a-7p
  • Schedule is a blend of traditional hospitalist on-off, and regular M-F; Approximately 50% of each
  • Approximately 10 weekends per year required
  • Additional moonlighting shifts available
  • Holiday rounding coverage shared equitably – approximately one minor per year, and 1:4 major holidays

About you:

  • Possess strong clinical skills and demonstrate competency in providing comprehensive health care, including evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment
  • Flexibility and organizational skills to work autonomously
  • Attend monthly staff meetings in North Andover, MA
  • 2+ years of experience as an NP or PA as an acute care or LTAC/IRF hospitalist, or RN experience in an ICU or LTAC setting
  • Valid license to practice as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in MA
  • Valid DEA and Mass Controlled license
  • Proven skills, knowledge base, and judgment necessary for independent clinical decision making
  • The ideal candidate will live within 30 minutes of Haverhill, MA
  • Excellent time management and problem-solving skills
